Senator WALKER (New South Wales) - - I propose to say but a very few words to defend the position I take up. I am an out-and-out free-trader. I do not believe in preference to any one, but when I am called upon to deal with a measure which is calculated to do such a vast amount of injury to the great body of the people of the Commonwealth represented by the consumers, and an amendment is moved which is likely to lessen that injury, I have no hesitation in supporting that amendment.
