Senator MILLEN (New South Wales) . - To me the words objected to by Senator Symon appear to be ridiculous. It is not unreasonable, when anything appears in a Bill which strikes one as being superfluous, that the Minister in charge should explain why the words objected to have been inserted.

Senator MILLEN - If the Minister is unable to explain why the words should be retained, surely it is not unreasonable that we should object to them.
