Senator KEATING (TASMANIA) (Ministerwithout portfolio) - I understand that the conditions as to speed are being observed. If there are any instances in which the honorable senator thinks that they have not been observed, and he will give me particulars of them, perhaps I could obtain a more specific answer to his question.

Senator Clemons - I should say thai they have not been carried out during the whole of this winter.

Senator Guthrie - What is the speed required under the contract?

Senator KEATING - I do not . know that an exact mileage has been arranged. The conditions for the new service have been published in the Gasette. I shall be able to lay a copy of them upon the table, and, if necessary, they can be printed separately.

Senator Clemons - Can the Minister say whether there is any alteration in the proposed rate of speed between Melbourne and Launceston?

Senator KEATING - I think not; but the conditions, when tabled, will indicate that.
