Senator DOBSON (Tasmania) - If Senator Playford thinks that there is any chance of the prorogation not taking place until Thursday next, I think that he might ask the Senate to meet on Monday at halfpast 10 o'clock, if by doing so it would save a day. I booked my passage first for today, and then for Wednesday next, because there is always very great difficulty in getting a comfortable passage to Tasmaniaat this period of the year.

Senator Playford - I cannot please every honorable senator.

Senator DOBSON - Exactly ; but if, as I understand, the senatorsfrom New South Wales do not propose to return to Sydney at the week end, what object can be served by fixing the hour of meeting at half-past 2 o'clock?

Senator Higgs - Why not move an amendment' to meet at half -past 10 o'clock?

Senator DOBSON - I move-

That the word " two " be left out, with a view to insert in lieu thereof the word " ten."

Senator Playford - I shall not oppose the amendment, because it is entirely for the Senate to fix the hour.

Senator Pearce - Is it the intention of the Minister to ask the Senate to sit tonight?

Senator Playford - No, not unless that is generally desired.
