Senator PLAYFORD (South Australia) (Minister of Defence) . - I certainly made a promise that if honorable senators would meet in the morning I should be prepared to adjourn at 10 o'clock at night, and I will keep the promise if any honorable senator desires that I should do so. But I must confess that I hoped to make more progress with Government business than I have been able to make to-day. Honorable senators will agree that the discussion on the Bill has been a long one, if an interesting one. Nearly every point has been raised in connexion with it that is dealt with in the amendments which, I understand, are to be proposed, and I therefore think that we might go on with the Bill. I should be very glad if honorable senators would be prepared to put it through Committee.
