Senator PLAYFORD - The Prime Minister informs me that he does not think it well to lay the proposed agreement on the table. It has been forwarded for signature, and it is expected that it will shortly be signed. It is not thought desirable to lay it upon the table of the Senate until it is signed.

Senator HIGGS - Arising out of the Minister's reply, I would ask whether the Prime Minister is aware that the Senate has ordered that this proposed draft agreement shall be laid on the table?..

Senator PLAYFORD - I think it was the agreement, and not the draft agreement, that was ordered to be laid upon the table. The Prime Minister is aware of what the honorable senator refers to, but he would prefer not to lay the agreement on the table until the matter is finally settled. However, I will undertake to make further inquiries into the matter.
