Senator PLAYFORD - The answer to the honorable senator's question is as follows : -

The Commonwealth received no invitation to the Conference mentioned, and was not represented.

An International Congress on Working Men's Insurance was held at Vienna in September last at which the Commonwealth was represented by Sir John Cockburn. The complete report of the proceedings has not yet been received. As soon as it is available any resolutions agreed to by the Congress will be made public.

Senator Clemons - Surely that answer is altogether outside the question ?

Senator PLAYFORD - It gives a little information on another point. I do not think that the Senate will offer any objection.

Senator Clemons - Not in the least, but surely it is given irregularly ?

Senator PLAYFORD - It arises, to a certain extent, out of the question.

Senator Clemons - I am glad to get the information, but) this is, I think, a wrong way to give it to the Senate, because it does not arise out of the question.
