Senator Dobson - Or why we have to pay legal expenses at all ?

SenatorO'KEEFE.- Is there not in the Attorney-General's Department sufficient legal talent to deal with these questions?

Senator Keating - Most of these cases arise in WesternAustralia or Queensland, and officers could not be sent there from Melbourne.

Senator O'KEEFE - This is another instance of mixing up items which have no relation one to the other. It is not a satisfactory way of bringing the Estimates before the Committee. It would be more satisfactory to us to know what proportion of this sum is required for legal expenses, and what proportion is required for interpreters' fees.
