Senator Lt Col GOULD (New South Wales) - I sympathize with Senator Macfarlane in his desire to know what regulations will be made under this Bill. It is possible to specify such a notice as would lead to very great hardship. As the Bill stands, the period of notice is left open. It might be twenty-four hours, forty-eight hours, or a week. If the amendment now before the Committee is withdrawn, I shall be prepared to move an amendment dealing with the notice to be given.

Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.

Amendment (by Senator Lt.-Col. Gould) proposed -

That after the word " regulation," line 6, the following words be inserted : - " but so as not to be required to give more than twenty-four hours' notice."
