Senator HIGGS (QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister representing the Postmaster-General, upon notice -

1.   Is it true, as stated in the Melbourne Argus of Monday, the 6th inst., that negotiations are proceeding between the Pacific Cable Board and the directors of the Eastern Extension Company in London with a view to pooling receipts?

2.   Will the Government withhold its consent from any agreement with the Eastern Extension Company until Parliament has had an opportunity of considering such agreement?
