Senator MATHESON (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister of Defence, upon notice -

1.   Is the Minister aware that the New Zealand Government have introduced a Bill into their Parliament to amend the Naval Agreement Act, such a Bill being rendered necessary in order to meet the variation in the agreement previously existing in regard to the Australasian Squadron, dealing withthe class of cruisers to be employed ?

2.   When do the Federal Government intend to introduce a Bill for the samepurpose?

3.   Do the Government still maintain that they are not aware of any intention on the part of the British Admiralty to vary the strength of the Australasian Squadron?

4.   Has any reply been received from the Admiral on the Australian Station regarding CaptainCreswell's. report, and the statements made in the Senate, as to the comparative classification and defensive strength of H.M.S. Euryalus and H.M.S. Powerful?
