Senator DE LARGIE (Western Australia) - I draw attention to the fact that it is. here proposed that the deposit which has to be lodged, on objecting to a person on the roll, is to be reduced from 5s. to is. I oppose the reduction. No reasons were given for it at the second-reading stage, and a deposit of 5s. is a safeguard against a man with plenty of cash to throw away objecting wholesale to persons whose names appear upon the roll. The present arrangement has worked satisfactorily. I have heard nothing against it, and I can see a great danger in the sum being reduced.
