Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER (Mr Millar (WIDE BAY, QUEENSLAND) - Mr Speakerhas received a letter from the honourable member for Lilley (Mr Kevin Cairns) proposing that a definite matter of public importance be submitted to the House for discussion, namely:

The tragedy for Australia in the event of the formation of the proposed Australian Hydrocarbon Corporation.

Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER (Mr Millar - The Chair is not presently in possession of that knowledge. The remarks of the honourable member for Corio are noted. The matter of public importance selected by Mr Speaker is consistent with that which the Chair read to the House.
