Dr Everingham (CAPRICORNIA, QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister for Veterans Affairs, upon notice, on 26 March 1980:

What was the relationship to ( 1 ) average annual earnings and (2) the Consumer Price Index, for each year since 1971 of (a)repatriation pensions at the (i) general rate (100 per cent disability), (ii) intermediate rate and (iii) special rate (Totally and Permanently Incapacitated), (b) allowances for widows and dependants of veterans, (c) recreation and transport allowances for beneficiaries, (d) domestic and at-tendants' allowances, (e) funeral benefits for veterans and (f) tne maximum loan available under the Defence Service Homes loans scheme.

Mr Adermann (FISHER, QUEENSLAND) (Minister for Veterans Affairs) The following tables show the relationship of the actual rate of payment of pension or benefit on the first day of each calendar year compared with figures adjusted in accordance with movements in the average annual earnings and the Con-sumer Price Index. The second and third columns indicate what the rates would have been had they been adjusted in ac- cordance with the indices. Figures in parentheses represent the relativity of the actual payment to the payment that would have been made if the rates had been adjusted in ac-cordance with the indices.
