Dr Klugman asked the Minister for Administrative Services, upon notice, on 1 3 May 1 980:

Were 12 Hercules transport aircraft originally sold to Parmax Inc. of the United States of America for SI 0.7 million; if so, what is the present position.

Mr John McLeay (BOOTHBY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

On 22 June 1979 12 ex-RAAF Hercules C130A aircraft were sold to Parmax Inc. of Arlington, Texas, USA for SA10.212 million with payment due on 9 July 1979. Due to the necessity to repair one of the aircraft the time for payment was extended. On 12 February 1980 Parmax Inc. was given formal notice to complete. To date payment has not been made. The Commonwealth Government has re-opened world-wide public tenders closing in Canberra on 22 July 1980.
