Mr Cadman asked the Minister for Industrial Relations, upon notice, on 2 1 April 1980:

(   1 ) How many officers of his Department are assigned to respond to and prepare evidence for (a) Parliamentary committees, (b) the Commonwealth Ombudsman and (c) the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

(2)   What is the total number of staff of his Department based in Canberra.


Mr Street - The answer to the honourable member's question is:

(   1) No officers are assigned to full-time duties to respond to and prepare evidence for (a) Parliamentary committees, (b) the Commonwealth Ombudsman and (c) the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. As particular matters arise from time-to-time, officers of the Department are required to discharge these functions.

(2)   At 31 March 1980, 75 staff" of the Department of Industrial Relations were based in Canberra.
