Mr Uren asked the Prime Minister, upon notice, on 2 1 February 1 980:

In view of the answer to Question No. 3473 (Hansard, 13 November 1979, page 2948) did Sir Harry Gibbs, a Justice of the High Court of Australia (a) make his visit to South Africa in 1 979 at the expense of the Australian Government; and (b) use a diplomatic passport on the visit.

Mr Malcolm Fraser - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(a)   No.

(b)   Yes. As a Justice of the High Court, Sir Harry Gibbs has an entitlement to a diplomatic passport.
