Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER - In answer to the honourable member for Chifley, I point out that as far as I am aware the Chair only has the role of describing whether a quorum is present at the time of the calling of the quorum. As I have explained already, the advice given to me by the

Clerk was that a quorum was present. I cannot go beyond that.

Mr Armitage -I raise a further point of order. I think that the Clerk can quite easily give you the number and you can announce it to the House. There is nothing to stop that being done. That is what happened the last time that this situation occurred in relation to Mr Nixon.

Question so resolved in the affirmative.
