Mr Innes asked the Minister representing the Minister for National Development and Energy, upon notice, on 29 August 1 979:

(   1 ) Do Australian individuals or companies hold equity in the uranium exploration and mining development company Minatome Australia Pty Ltd.

(2   ) If so, what is the percentage equity held by each.

(3)   Which foreign individuals and companies hold equity in Mimatome Australia Pty Ltd.

(4)   What is the percentage equity held by each.

(5)   Do Australian individuals and companies hold equity in the development and/or exploration of any Australian project being developed by Mimatome; if so, which individuals and companies and what equity does each hold.

Mr Anthony -The Minister for National Development and Energy has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:

(   1 ) to (5) Minatome Australia Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the French company, Minatome SA which is in turn jointly owned by two French companies, Compagnie Francaise des Petroles (which trades under the name Total) and Pechiney Ugine- Kuhlmann.

Minatome Australia Pty Ltd is currently engaged solely in uranium exploration in Australia. If it were to propose to participate in the development of a uranium deposit, it would be required to meet the Government's foreign investment guidelines for new uranium mining projects.
