Mr WHITLAM (Werriwa) (Leader of the Opposition) - On behalf of the Australian Labor Party I support the motion that the Prime Minister (Mr McMahon) has moved and the messages that he has sent to Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. It was due to the happy inspiration of a former leader of my Party, Prime Minister John Curtin, that Prince William, when an infant, spent 2 years and more with his parents in Australia. He has proved himself since then in many ways - at university, in sport, in commerce and in diplomacy. This is a particularly poignant occasion because he had. in so many respects, justified the opportunities which came to him as a member of the Royal Family. He had already served his country very well. He was splendidly prepared to serve it for many decades to come.
