(1)   Has the price of unsliced bread in the Austialian Capital Territory increased by 7 cents since July, 1971.

(2)   If so, what is this increase expressed as a percentage.

(3)   Does the Government consider that this is a reasonable increase.

(4)   Why has the increase occurred and what reas&ns were given for the increase.

(5)   Does he have any control or influence over increases in the price of bread in the Australian Capital Territory.

(6)   If so, will he take steps to see that the price is not increased further.

Mr Hunt - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   to (6) Since July 1971 bread producers in the Australian Capital Territory have announced two increases each of 1 cent in the price of unsliced. unwrapped bread in Canberra. These announcements have closely followed prices fixed by the Prices Commissioner in New South Wales. There are no controls over the price of bread in the Australian Capital Territory. Bread can be purchased in Canberra at a variety of prices.
