Mr Collard (KALGOORLIE, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister for the Environment, Aborigines and the Arts, upon notice:

(1)   In relation to the Commonwealth Capital Fund for Aboriginal Enterprises, how many applications for rural loans have been received from each State and the Northern Territory in each year since the Aboriginal Enterprises (Assistance) Act was assented to.

(2)   How any of these applications (a) were successful, (b) were rejected and (c) are still under consideration.

(3)   What sum was applied for in each (a) successful and (b) unsuccessful application.

(i)   Tambourah Reserve (No. 21802): 103,000 acres were excised on 4 February 1955.

(ii)   Central Australian Reserve (No. 17614): 4.798,700 acres were excised on 18 November 1955. The area was returned to Reserve No. 17614 on 11 February 1972.

(iii)   Finucane Island Reserve (No. 16937): 1,542 acres were excised on 28 August 1964 for iron ore export facilities.

(iv)   Port Hedland Reserve (No. 26362): 5 acres, 2 roods, 16 perches were excised on 5 July 1968, also for iron ore export facilities.

(v)   Admiralty Gulf Temporary Reserve for Natives (now Reserve No. 36642): 47,000
