Mr HUGHES (Berowra) (AttorneyGeneral) (12:18 PM) - in reply - My reply will be as brief as possible because the hour is late. I can assure the honourable member for Riverina (Mr Grassby) that this Bill is not designed to impinge upon the activities of the Rural Reconstruction Board of the State of New South Wales. The legislation under which that Board is established is, as I understand it, legislation that may be declared or proclaimed under the present Bill when it becomes an Act of this Parliament, so that the protection given by this Bill will be available in the case of compositions or schemes entered into under the relevant New South Wales legislation. That is my understanding of the situation. I have taken note of the other comments made by the honourable member.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time.
