The following answers to questions upon notice were circulated:

Aboriginals: Bequest to Gurindji Tribe (Question No. 1357)


Mr Wentworth - The answers to the honourable member's questions are as follows:

(1)   Yes.

(2)   Mrs MaryElizabeth Bourke late of Cronulla, New South Wales, who died on12 March 1969 bequeathed to me the sum of $4,000 to be applied at my absolute discretion for charitable purposes.

(3)   Mrs Bourkeexpressed the preference that the money be applied for the relief of poverty among the members of the Gurindji Tribe in the Wave Hill area of the Northern Territory, and specifically for the acquisition, improvement or other development of land for those people.

(4)   The money has not yet been applied, but the ultimate allocation will be based on the wishes of the Gurindji people with whom discussions are continuing.

Fluoridation (Question No. 1437)


Dr Forbes - The answer to the honour able member's question is as follows:

Therehas been no change in the situation in either Melbourne or Brisbane since my replyto you of 20th August 1969.

Defence Expenditure (Question No. 1485)


Mr Malcolm Fraser (WANNON, VICTORIA) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows: (1), (2) and (5) The details of expenditure on the requested bases are shown in table A below.

(3)   and (4) The value of individual allocations and the percentage of the total defence allocation to each of the Defence Group of departments in each year since 1954-55 are shown in tables B and C respectively.
