Mr Whitlam asked the Prime Minister, upon notice:

(1)   What was the date of the establishment of each of the permanent interdepartmental committees listed in his answer of 12th June 1970 (Hansard, page 3674) to the question I placed on the notice paper on 25lh February 1969 and again on 4th March 1970

(2)   Which departments are represented on each committee.

Mr Gorton - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   and (2) My answer of 12th June listed the subjects in respect of which permanent interdepartmental committees had been established. In many cases, e.g. Defence, more than one committee has been established to deal with particular aspects of the general subject.

Whilst the information now sought by the honourable member could be obtained I am reluctant, as in the case of the information he sought in Question No. 1637, to authorise the time and expense which would be involved.

Non-aligned Countries: Lusaka Conference (Question No. 1939)

Mr Whitlam asked the Minister for External Affairs, upon notice:

Which Commonwealth countries attended the third conference of non-aligned countries in Lusaka in September.
