Mr SNEDDEN (BRUCE, VICTORIA) (Minister for Immigration) - The answer to the honourable gentleman's question is yes, but I should not like him to assume therefrom that a number of people will be coming to Australia in the immediate future. As the honourable gentleman will remember, conditions are attached to eligibility and it will take some time for applications to be made and processed. I am bound to say that over the last month or two I have asked the Department to put aside letters received by me from people in England so that the writers could be informed of the possibility of the scheme and would be able to make applications which will be processed under this scheme.
