Mr BARNARD (BASS, TASMANIA) - I ask the Acting Prime Minister a question. Did he substantially amend the original submissions of the Tariff Board in formulating his plans for the Australian automotive industry? Did those plans have the effect of producing sharp rises in imports of vehicle components and fully made-up vehicles? Is there now less Australian content in the light car market than before the plans were announced? If these are facts, has disruption and uncertainty In the Australian automotive industry been caused solely by the complete inadequacy of the right honourable gentleman's plans?
