Mr HAROLD HOLT - The honorable member has spoken like a true son of the mighty State of Western Australia. As he and other honorable members will be aware, the Commonwealth Government has continued the arrangement entered into originally, I think, by the Chifley Government under which assistance was to be given for the first phase of what was known as a comprehensive water supply scheme for Western Australia. The financial provision which has been made by the present Government has been substantially in excess of what was originally estimated to be the cost of that scheme. Those arrangements were entered into with the Government of Western Australia before the latest financial arrangement under which very much more liberal provision has been assured for the next six years for Western Australia, in company with other States of the Commonwealth. Recently, Mr. Wild, a member of the Western Australian Government, interviewed me on this matter and I asked him ' to submit to me in writing the case which he then presented. This will receive the consideration of the Commonwealth Government. I cannot take the matter further than that at this stage.
