Mr DAVIS (DEAKIN, VICTORIA) - My question to the Treasurer relates to what I presume to be an authoritative statement which was made by the Leader of the Opposition when he was in Central Australia recently. There, as I understand it, the Leader of the Opposition indicated that it is the policy of his party to increase the funds made available to the Northern Territory Administration to an amount in the vicinity of £60,000,000 over a period of approximately twenty years. I therefore ask the Treasurer: First, how does the amount of money allotted to the Northern Territory in the last year of the Labour Administration compare with the moneys made available to the Northern Territory in the last financial year by the present Administration? Secondly, what effect would the raising of the proposed amount of money have on the budgetary position?
