Mr CURTIN (KINGSFORD-SMITH, NEW SOUTH WALES) - My question without notice is directed to the Treasurer. Is the Minister aware that the New South Wales surf life-saving clubs are in dire financial straits? Is the Minister aware that owing to the continuous heavy storms during the summer months, most clubs had their surf boats battered to pieces and most of their lifesaving equipment destroyed? Is it a fact that these clubs are purely voluntary organizations that rely mostly on public subscriptions and the personal sacrifices of their members for money to purchase their equipment? As their finances are at a very low ebb, will the Treasurer, in framing the forthcoming Budget, consider making a grant of £50,000-

Mr CURTIN - Will the Treasurer consider, when framing the Budget, making a grant of £50,000, which would1 assist in the purchase of much needed equipment for the next surfing season?
