Mr TOWNLEY (DENISON, TASMANIA) (Minister for Defence) - I can assure the honorable member and the House that in all naval planning the highest priority is given to anti-submarine equipment and to operational experience in its use. As I pointed out in the last defence statement which I made to the House, the maritime reconnaissance wing of the Royal Australian Air Force is to be strengthened by the addition of twelve P2V7 aircraft - the latest type for the purpose of maritime antisubmarine reconnaissance. I assure the honorable member that we are taking all the steps that it is possible to take in recognition of the threat which he mentions and in which he has shown great concern.
