Mr WHITLAM (WERRIWA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - 1 wish to ask the Postmaster-General a question without notice concerning the 182 occasions on which telephone communications have been intercepted for security reasons since 1949. Were these interceptions carried out wholly or in part by employees of his department? If so, what status did those employees hold in the department?
