Mr OSBORNE (EVANS, NEW SOUTH WALES) (Minister for Air) - Twelve of these aircraft were purchased. Nine have already been delivered, and I am glad to be able to tell the honorable member that the remaining three are expected to arrive from the United States of America within the next week. The carriage of personnel is among the purposes for which the aircraft are designed. Seats can be easily fitted into them and easily removed. But their special capacity - and I think that I should emphasize this - lies in their ability to carry heavy and bulky equipment, and it is for that purpose that they will be of the greatest use to the services. They have ahead of them an active programme of exercises with both the Air Force and the Army, principally in the carriage of heavy material.
