Mr Ward d asked the Postmaster-General, upon notice -

1.   What parliamentarians, showing the party to which they belong, have made ministerial statements, delivered talks or participated in discussions on television programmes since their inauguration in this country?

2.   What television channels were concerned in each case; on how many occasions has each person appeared and what was the duration of each session?

3.   Which of these telecasts formed part of a programme for which the participant did not pay?

Mr Davidson - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows: -

The attached statement has been compiled from information supplied by the Australian Broadcasting Commission and the licencees of commercial television stations. I should add that the details, being confined to appearances of parliamentarians, do not give a complete impression of the extent to which persons affiliated with the several political parties have appeared on television. There have, of course, also been many appearances of other persons who, though not parliamentarians, have expressed views on political subjects.
