Sir PHILIP McBRIDE (WAKEFIELD, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) (Minister for Defence) - I am not conversant with the recent happenings in the United Nations General Assembly mentioned by the honorable member, but there are two things I should like to say with regard to this matter. One is that trading with a country does not involve political recognition. The second is that I should have thought this to be a most inappropriate time for China to ask for admission to the United Nations Organization, when she is blatantly flouting its charter.
