Mr FORBES - Is the Minister for the Interior aware that at a recent conference in Canberra of senior officers of the forestry departments of the Commonwealth and the States, alarm was expressed at the lack of fundamental research into forestry problems in Australia? In view of the immense importance of forestry to the Australian economy, can the Minister say whether the Government intends to adopt the suggestion that the Commonwealth should establish a full-scale research institute to undertake such research?
