Mr STOKES (MARIBYRNONG, VICTORIA) - Has the attention of the Minister for the Army been directed to a certain statement by a senior officer of the Department of Labour and National Service at the recent selective ballot for the 12,000 national servicemen who will be trained next year? It was to the effect that a wastage of 4,000, or one-third of the total number, could be expected before the trainees marched into camp? If so, will the Minister re-affirm the Government's policy of maintaining the quota at 12,000 per annum and thus remove any misunderstanding which may have arisen?
