Mr HASLUCK (CURTIN, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) (Minister for Territories)
- I am informed that the Commissioner, Mr. Justice Mann, opened his inquiry on Friday of last week and that, after preliminary matters had been attended to, the inquiry was adjourned to an early date. Arrangements have been made for the Commissioner to be assisted by Mr. Edmonds, an officer of the Attorney-General's Department in Australia. The presentation of evidence to the Commissioner will be handled by the Assistant Crown Law Officer of the Territory, Mr. Johnson. The usual announcements have been made and notices issued inviting all those wishing to give evidence to do so. The right honorable gentleman can be assured that the inquiry is proceeding with expedition and a proper regard for the necessity for a thorough investigation.
