Mr Daly y asked the Minister for Air, upon notice -

1.   How many (a) men (b) women are enlisted in the Royal Australia Air Force at the present time?

2.   How many are officers?

3.   How many applications by (a) men and (b) women are on the waiting list?

Mr Osborne - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows: -

1.   The personnel strength of the Royal Australian Air Force as at 1st August, 1958, was - Officers- Males, 1,962; females, 81; total, 2,043. Airmen - 12,243. Airwomen- 807. Grand total of officers, airmen and airwomen, 15,093.

3.   The present position regarding enlistment applications is -

(a)   Applications fully processed and appli cants awaiting call-up - Males, 107; females, 34.

(b)   Applications on hand but not yet fully processed - Males, 563; females, 74.
