Mr DEPUTYSPEAKER - Order ! The honorable gentleman knows that in making a personal explanation he is not entitled to introduce any new matter. He may only show how he has been misrepresented. He is not entitled to enter into a discussion of the matter.

Mr SPENDER - I bow to your ruling, sir, and content myself with saying that the Minister for External Affairs is quite wrong in conveying to the public, as he has done on two occasions, that I advanced a view simply for party political purposes. I firmly hold that view, and nothing that the Minister has said will persuade me that it is wrong.
