Mr HOLT - In view of the efforts that are being made by the Government in other directions to ensure that all .parties shall 'have equal opportunities at the forthcoming general election, will the Prime Minister say whether the Government has reached any decision concerning the date on which the election is to be held ? If so, what is the date?

Mr CHIFLEY - I may be able to answer the honorable member's question next week. A tentative date has been agreed upon; but further consideration will have to be given to the matter because of the state of the electoral machinery.
