Mr HOLT (Fawkner) .- Will the Minister for Post-war Reconstruction (Mr. Dedman) explain the procedure which it is proposed to adopt in relation to the matters now before the committee? Before the dinner suspension, an understanding was reached with the Prime Minister (Mr. Chifley) that after the appropriation bills had been introduced, honorable members would be given an opportunity to study them before being required to debate them. I understand that the Government now intends to proceed with them immediately.

Mr Chifley - That was a request.

Mr HOLT - I have no doubt that the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Menzies) will state his views on the matter. This is the first time that members of the Opposition have seen the bills.

Mr Menzies - I suggest that consideration of these measures be postponed until after the next business has been dealt with.
