Mr JOHNSON (KALGOORLIE, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) (Minister for the Interior) - The ordinances to which the honorable member has referred should have been passed at the last meeting of the Northern Territory Legislative Council.

Mr Blain - "Why were they not passed, then ?

Mr JOHNSON - If the honorable gentleman will remain silent, I shall tell him why they were not passed. It was expected that both ordinances would be ready for submission to the Legislative Council at its last meeting; but, owing to delays in drafting, they were not available at that time. The Administrator of the Northern Territory has assured me that the ordinances have now been prepared and that they will be dealt with at the next meeting of the council.
