Mr Harrison n asked the Minister for the Army, upon notice -

1.   What quantities of arms and ammunition have been stolen from the Northern Territory since the end of the war, and in what areas have the thefts occurred?

2.   What was e num number and nature of the a til en nrma and ammunition, respectively?

Mr. -Chambers.- The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows : -

1.   During the period August, 11145, to 21 cn, 1949, arms and ammunition as indicated hereunder have been stolen from the Northern Territory: - Small anna - pistols, various calibre, 45; rifles, .303 inch, 6. Ammunition - 12-gauge shot, 1,824 rounds. Areas concerned - Francis Bay, Mataranka, Kahlin, Darwin, and Parap.
