Mr BLAKELEY (Darling) .- The Government has appointed a liaison officer in London for the purpose of informing its mind on European developments. It is really a semi-ambassadorial office, following on the lines of European custom. While it may be necessary for European Governments to watch the affairs of other countries, that is not necessary so far as Australia is concerned. This officer has little need for informing the Government of what' is happening in Persia, Germany, or any other country. We consider that an expenditure of £1,000 is too little for any benefit to be derived from this source. I move -

That the item "Liaison Officer (London) £906 " be omitted.
