Dr EARLE PAGE - (Byleave.)- On the 12th June, the honorable member for Melbourne (Dr. Maloney) asked the following questions -

1.   What is the present value of Cook's Buildings, Elizabeth-street, Hobart, purchased by the Commonwealth Government?

2.   What is the present value of the land purchased by the Commonwealth from the State of Victoria, on which the Commonwealth offices (at the rear of the Treasury buildings) are erected?

3.   What is the present value of such building?

4.   What is the present value of the land purchased by the Commonwealth Government in Perth, on portion of which the post office is built?

5.   What are the present municipal values of the land in Sydney bounded by Pitt and George-streets, and extending from the postoffice up to King-street?

I am now in a position to furnish the following replies -

1.   £18,000.

2.   £10,000.

3.   £140,000.

4.   The present value of the whole of the land acquired for the purpose of the Perth Post Office is £285,000. This includes that portion of the land which has been sold to the Commonwealth Bank.

5.   The unimproved value is £948,135. The improved value is not available.
