Mr McGRATH (Ballarat) .- I also desire to bring before the notice of the Treasurer a very serious anomaly that operates against four or five officers of the Navigation Department whose services were retained by the State of Victoria at the inauguration of federation, but who later were taken over by the Commonwealth Department. They could not take advantage of the Victorian Superannuation Act, and because they were over 30 years of age at the time that they came under our Superannuation Fund they are obliged to contribute to that fund at the rate of £2 a week when their contributions should amount to not more . than 8s. a week. If the Treasurer has in mind the rectification of anomalies that have manifested themselves in the administration of the act, I ask him to give consideration to the case of these officials.
