Mr BRUCE - As the conferring of honours is the prerogative of the British Sovereign, I am not prepared to make any statement as to the possibility of an honour being conferred upon Mr. Larkin.

Mr C RILEY (COOK, NEW SOUTH WALES) - Is it a fact that prior to his departure for England, Mr. Larkin discussed this matter with the Prime Minister, and intimated that, if he were recommended for the honour of knighthood, it would be helpful to him in his business activities in Great Britain?

Mr BRUCE - I do not discuss with individuals - Mr. Larkin or anybody else - the claims which they may think they have for the conferring of an honour by His Majesty.
