Dr MALONEY (MELBOURNE, VICTORIA) asked the Treasurer, upon notice -

In view of the Commonwealth paying oldage pensions, and in view of Sir George Turner's promise that no person should be gaoled in Victoria whose only crime is poverty, would the Treasurer request the Victoria Minister of Justice to inform magistrates that the old-age pensioners do not come under the usual stigma of having no visible means of support?
