Mr GROOM - Have you any fixed system of grants to aid mining?

Mr MAHON - Yes; and under it we propose to assist the Mr Bonney mine, which is the most promising gold mine being worked by an Australian company. We have taken the mine and machinery as security for its repayment. I do not think that I need say any more at this stage. I hope the Committee will put these Estimates through, because nearly the whole of the money has been spent, and this is the fifth or sixth time ti the Committee has had the Estimates of this Department under consideration.
